House Extension and Internal Alterations – Gairn Crescent, Aberdeen

After producing a series of designs, as part of the Feasibility Study, the client decided to proceed with a large 2-storey extension, as well as going up into the loft space. By extending, and reorganising the internal layout, we were able to improve the flow and circulation of the house. We linked the new and existing spaces by removing internal walls, creating an open plan Kitchen/Dining/Family space, opening out into the garden via sliding doors.

The external appearance of the house has been improved by re-rendering the original and new extension. Maintaining the appearance of the other houses on the street, while providing much more living accommodation.

McGregor Garrow Architecture were employed for full services. Following the Feasibility Study, we obtained planning and building warrant approvals from Aberdeen City Council. We then arranged a competitive tender, with local builders providing fixed tender costs for carrying out the works. McGregor Garrow Architecture carried out regular inspections during the construction phase, meeting with the client and builder to ensure the extension was built as per contract and acting as Contract Administrator.
