House Extension and Internal Alterations, Gairn Crescent
After producing a series of designs, as part of the Feasibility Study, the client decided to proceed with a large 2-storey extension, as well as going up into the loft space. By extending, and reorganising the internal layout, we were able to improve the flow and circulation of the house. We linked the new and existing spaces by removing internal walls, creating an open plan Kitchen/Dining/Family space, opening out into the garden via sliding doors.
The external appearance of the house has been improved by re-rendering the original and new extension. Maintaining the appearance of the other houses on the street, while providing much more living accommodation.
McGregor Garrow Architects were employed for full architect services. Following the Feasibility Study, we obtained the planning and building warrant approvals, from the council. We then arranged a competitive tender, with local builders providing fixed tender costs for carrying out the works. Having accepted the chosen builder, McGregor Garrow Architects carried out regular inspections during the construction phase. Meeting with the client and builder to ensure the building was built as per the contract and acting as contract Administrator.
